SPJP Proceedings: Excellence in Scholarly Publishing

1. Overview & Institutional Mission

Welcome to the editorial board of SPJP Proceedings. As a member of our editorial team, you serve as a guardian of scientific progress. Our mission is to provide a rapid, high-quality, and open-access platform for disseminating research presented at international conferences. Your role is fundamental in ensuring that the transition from a "conference paper" to a "published proceeding" maintains the highest academic rigor and ethical standards.

2. Role and Scope of the Editor

Editors are the primary stewards of the peer-review journey. Beyond administrative tasks, your scope includes:

  • Quality Control: Protecting the journal’s reputation by filtering out sub-standard research.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensuring every paper fits the specific thematic focus of the hosted conference.
  • Mentorship: Providing constructive feedback that helps authors improve their scholarly output.

3. Manuscript Triage & Initial Assessment

Upon submission, an initial "Triage" must be performed before assigning reviewers. Please evaluate based on the following Critical Checkpoints:

Scope Fit
Does the research belong in SPJP Proceedings?
Originality
Does it offer a new contribution or unique perspective?
Formatting
Does it adhere to the SPJP Author Template?

4. The Peer Review Lifecycle

SPJP Proceedings utilizes a Double-Blind Peer Review process. This ensures that the identity of the author is hidden from the reviewer and vice versa, eliminating bias.

  1. Reviewer Selection: Identify 2-3 experts with a proven track record in the paper’s specific niche.
  2. Conflict Check: Ensure no shared institutional affiliations or previous collaborations between authors and reviewers.
  3. Timeline Management: Maintain a standard review cycle of 14–21 days to ensure rapid publication for conference authors.

5. Editorial Decisions Framework

Decision Category Definition & Required Actions
Accept (Unconditional) The manuscript is exceptional and meets all academic and formatting requirements.
Minor Revisions Requires small changes (typos, citation updates, or minor clarifications). Re-review is usually not necessary.
Major Revisions Requires substantial changes (additional data, re-analysis, or structural changes). Requires a second round of peer review.
Reject & Resubmit Concept is valid but execution is poor. Encouraged to rewrite and submit as a new entry in a future volume.
Reject (Outright) Serious flaws in methodology, unethical practices, or completely outside the scope of SPJP.

6. Ethical Oversight (COPE Compliance)

As a guardian of integrity, you must monitor and investigate potential violations of COPE standards, including:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data Fabrication
  • Duplicate Publication
  • Author Disputes

*If misconduct is suspected, pause the review immediately and notify the Editor-in-Chief.
