Paranasal sinus diseases, including sinusitis, nasal polyps, fungal infections, and sinonasal neoplasms, are common disorders that significantly affect patient quality of life and may lead to severe complications if not diagnosed early. Computed Tomography (CT) has become the gold standard imaging modality for evaluating sinonasal pathologies due to its superior spatial resolution, multiplanar capability, and excellent visualization of both soft tissue and bony anatomy. This mini-review evaluates the role of advanced CT imaging techniques in the diagnosis and management of nasal and paranasal sinus diseases. A literature-based review was conducted using scientific databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Relevant articles focusing on Multidetector Computed Tomography (MDCT), Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), low-dose CT protocols, and image-guided technologies were analyzed. The review demonstrates that CT imaging provides accurate identification of mucosal disease, anatomical variations, bone erosion, and surgical landmarks essential for Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). Advanced techniques such as CBCT and low-dose CT protocols help reduce radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic quality. Despite limitations including radiation hazards, interpretative variability, and accessibility concerns, CT remains indispensable for early diagnosis, treatment planning, and postoperative assessment of sinonasal disorders. Continuous technological advancements are expected to further improve diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.
