The journey of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) began with the seminal work of Paul Lauterbur and Sir Peter Mansfield, who were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 2003 for their scarce contributions. Early experiments in the 1970s laid the foundation for the development of a non-invasive imaging modality that applies the principles of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to visualize internal structures.
